49th Parallel Heats up Vancouver’s Hot Chocolate Festival Last year’s runaway favourite returns with three cacao creations
Vancouver, B.C. (January 5, 2016) – 49th Parallel Roasters invites you to ward off winter’s chill at the city’s sweetest fest: the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival. Tempting chocoholics for its sixth year, the festival will run from Saturday, January 16 to Valentine’s Day on Sunday, February 14.
One of last year’s festival front-runners, 49th Parallel sold over 1,200 cups of “The Bee’s Knees” – a lavender hot chocolate with honey marshmallows and a side of boney/lavender biscotti. That success translated into thousands of dollars in donations to the Hot Chocolate Festival’s benefiting charity, East Van Roasters, a Vancouver-based social enterprise providing training and employment to women on the Downtown Eastside.
This year,49th Parallel will be offering three delectable hot chocolate concoctions at both 49th Parallel Cafés in Kitsilano (2198 West 4th Avenue) and Mount Pleasant (2902 Main Street). As a proud participant in the 6th Annual Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival, five percent of total sales from all three creations will once again benefit the work of East Van Roasters.
